Everything You Need to Know About Your Cappadocia Wedding

Your Questions, Answered

Planning a destination wedding raises many questions. Here, we have answered the most common ones we receive from couples considering a wedding or proposal in Cappadocia. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

General Questions

Cappadocia is one of earth's truly unique landscapes — a UNESCO World Heritage Site shaped by millions of years of volcanic activity and erosion, dotted with fairy chimneys, cave dwellings and Byzantine rock churches. The region's extraordinary natural beauty, combined with world-class boutique accommodation, exceptional cuisine and a warm, welcoming culture, makes it unlike any other wedding destination on earth. Couples from 48+ countries have chosen Cappadocia for their wedding or proposal — and virtually all of them tell us it was the best decision they ever made.

We recommend contacting us at least 12 months before your intended wedding date. For peak season dates — particularly June, September and October — 18 months is advisable. Our most popular venues and photographers book up quickly, and legal paperwork for foreign couples takes time to process. The earlier you begin, the more options are available to you.

Cappadocia is beautiful in every season, but each has its character. Spring (April–June) offers blooming landscapes and mild temperatures (15–20°C). Summer (July–August) is warm and sunny but can be busy. Autumn (September–October) is arguably the most beautiful — warm golden light, cooler evenings, fewer crowds, and the best conditions for balloon flights. Winter (November–March) is dramatic and romantic, with potential snowfall that transforms the fairy chimneys into a fairy-tale scene. We help you choose the best timing for your vision.

Absolutely. Our entire team operates in English, and the majority of our couples are international — from the UK, USA, Australia, Europe and beyond. We are experienced in cross-cultural celebrations and can accommodate traditions and customs from any background.

Cappadocia is one of Turkey's premier tourist destinations. There is a remarkable amount for guests to see and do — balloon flights, underground cities, open-air museums, horse riding, pottery workshops, wine tastings and more. We are happy to arrange a full programme of guest activities around your wedding celebrations.

Legal & Ceremony Questions

Yes. Turkey welcomes foreign nationals to marry legally on Turkish soil. The process requires gathering specific documents from your home country (typically a passport, birth certificate and certificate of marital status), having them apostilled and officially translated into Turkish, then registering with the local municipality. See our full Legal Procedures guide for details by nationality.

A legal civil ceremony is conducted under Turkish law and produces a legally binding marriage recognised internationally. A symbolic ceremony is a personal, non-legally-binding celebration — many couples prefer this for its simplicity and creative freedom, marrying legally at home before or after. Both are equally beautiful and meaningful.

Typically: valid passports, birth certificates (apostilled), and certificates of no impediment or marital status (apostilled). Divorced individuals also need their divorce decree (apostilled). All documents must be officially translated into Turkish. Requirements vary by nationality — we provide a personalised document checklist once we know your nationalities.

Allow a minimum of 3–4 months to gather, apostille and submit all documents. For some nationalities and situations, 6 months is safer. We always recommend beginning the moment your date is confirmed.

Yes. For symbolic ceremonies, there are no restrictions — you can incorporate any religious or cultural elements you wish. For civil ceremonies under Turkish law, the legal portion is secular, but you may hold a separate religious blessing in addition.

Planning & Logistics

Almost all of our planning takes place remotely. We hold regular video consultations, send detailed written proposals and mood boards for your review, and manage all vendor communications on your behalf. Many couples never visit Cappadocia before their wedding day — and are still astonished by how perfectly it matches their vision. We do recommend a pre-wedding visit if your schedule allows, and can arrange a full site visit programme.

Yes. From the moment you sign your planning agreement, you are assigned a dedicated senior wedding planner — your single point of contact for everything. You will always speak to the same person, who knows your vision and your details intimately.

We plan for every eventuality. All our outdoor ceremonies have contingency plans — typically a beautiful indoor alternative at the same or adjacent venue. We monitor weather in the week leading up to your wedding and discuss contingency options with you in advance. In many years of planning, we have never had a wedding ruined by weather.

No. We cater for elopements of just two guests as enthusiastically as we do for celebrations of 200. Some of the most extraordinary weddings we have created have been intimate ceremonies for the couple alone.

Absolutely. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher and all other dietary requirements are accommodated by our catering partners with care and creativity. We collect dietary requirements from all guests in advance and ensure every person is perfectly catered for.

Pricing & Packages

Cappadocia weddings range enormously — from intimate elopements starting at a few thousand dollars to grand celebrations for 150+ guests with full production values. The cost depends on guest count, venue, vendors chosen, season and the level of service required. We work transparently with you to understand your budget and present options that work within it. We do not have set packages — every wedding is bespoke.

We charge a planning fee, which varies depending on the size and complexity of your wedding. In addition, vendor costs (venue, catering, florals, photography etc.) are quoted separately and transparently — you see exactly what you are paying for. There are no hidden fees or markups on vendor services.

Our planning fee covers: initial consultation and proposal, full planning coordination and management, vendor sourcing, booking and contract negotiation, all communications with venues and suppliers, day-of coordination with an on-site team, and post-wedding vendor settlement. Essentially, everything except the vendor services themselves.

Yes. We structure payments in stages — typically an initial deposit to secure your date, a mid-planning payment, and a final balance 60 days before the wedding. We can discuss a schedule that works for your situation.

We pride ourselves on complete transparency. The costs you will encounter beyond our planning fee are: venue hire, catering per head, floral design, photography, entertainment, hair & makeup, transport, and any additional activities. We provide a comprehensive, itemised budget at the outset and update it throughout the planning process. There are no surprises.
